Posting sermons

a couple of you have asked if I would publish my notes from the sermon on the blog. I am toying with the idea.

Pros: give those of you who were not here a chance to read the sermon; gives more content for reflection

Cons: what is in my notes is often different than what gets preached; I am not sure I want to make the commitment to revising notes before posting them each week.

What do you think?

Peace,

richard

  1. Richard,
I really like the idea. I think the number of people who would be interested -- and would read, at least selectively -- far exceeds the number commenting, so far.

I'd guess you shouldn't revise your notes, to match on the "as preached" version, unless there is a particular change in your thinking that you want to include. Just use what you started with.
(You could even call it "Preacher's Notes", as opposed to a sermon, & then you wouldn't even have to correct typo's!)

  2. I agree with Mark.
    Do not change it.
    Too much work

  3. I agree with Mark and Lisa. It would be helpful to read the notes if you weren't able to attend services that week.
In addition, some people aren't auditory learners. Seeing the notes might clear up confusions or allow people to understand points they totally missed during the sermon.
